Etruscan - Roman Cortona
Duration: 3 ore
Cortona, which traces its origins to the Bronze Age Villanovan culture, rose to become one of the twelve important Etruscan cities. Our visit begins in the Archeological Park with its princely funerary monuments, locally referred to as the “Meloni”.The itinerary continues in the city center which still boasts many remnants of the Etruscan and Roman periods From the imposing circuit of city walls and their relative gates, to the streets and squares which echo the ancient urban layout still today. Afterwards, we will visit one of the most important museums in the province of Arezzo, the MAEC (Museo dell’ Accademia Etrusca e della Città di Cortona) where, proceeding chronologically, we will see the evolution of this ancient civilization. The MAEC’s recently modernized exhibition spaces elegantly display its exceptional archeological findings, notably the Etruscan Lamp and the Tabula Cortonensis (Cortona Tablet).
In the cost the tickets for MAEC are not included
