Cortona Art, History and Religion
Duration: 2,30 ore
A journey to discover Cortona, an ancient city of Etruscan origins, walking her narrow streets and wide squares. We will visit the Sanctuary of Santa Margherita ‐ the city’s patron saint ‐ and the medieval Church of San Francesco, the second church built by the Franciscan order after that of Assisi, which houses precious relics of Italy’s patron saint. On arriving in the center of Cortona with its elegant Renaissance palaces, we will see the 19th century Teatro Signorelli and the Cathedral, reconstructed in the 15th century over the foundations of the ancient parish church of Santa Maria.
